Men in Animal Costumes And Feathers Stuck Up Their Backsides

Well, Friday was the end of another monumental working week, and by 7PM, I was throwing in the towel, reaching for two large glasses of Tia Maria, and looking in the wine racks for a numbingly decent red to go with a simple bowl of capaletti with garlic, tomato and chilli flakes. However, a few minutes after said towel was thrown, the chap from whom I bought them kindly delivered the 28mm Aztecs, having decided to drive a very long way to do so, staying overnight in Sheffield. Here's how they look in decent light: As you will no doubt infer, without additional indication from yours truly, I am more than happy with them. I will be removing the stones from the bases though, and adding some bright mixed flowers instead. All in all these were a genuine bargain. I've also purchased a new copy of the excellent Formula D, which is a great car racing boardgame as I am sure most of you will be aware. It's fast, colourful and is just the thing for up to 10 players.  In nongaming new

Back at Christmas, I ordered a piece of terrain from Emperor Toad's Emporium via eBay. After two months (and a week late), I was quite excited when the item in question arrived today. This was a mistke. It's seldom I've seen such shoddy workmanship with glue everywhere and foam board glaring through the paint. What's more, one of the removeable roof sections was flattened, the other more flexible than a French whore offered 3 times the going rate. The seller wasn't interested, when I complained, something I think must be a general work ethic.

Hi all, Well, this weather is a little rough, even by the phlegmatic and understated standards of Yorkshire. If it carries on. we may need to consider wearing coats when we leave the house. The good news is the roof of the wargames room is still intact, so my builders appear to have used all the parts in the box! This weekend, we hunkered down here at Fackham Hall, the Memsahib spent her time painting more of her 28mm ECW Royalists, whilst I got the pike, lances and standards fixed on my 28mm Covenanters: On Sunday, I was determined to not go in my studio, nor touch anything involving physical figures. So instead, I spent my time in an armchair with army lists and portable I.T, sipping coffee. And that's where it all went Pete Tong - in a good way... I used a really basic search on a well known internet auction site and as I scroled, I came across a 380 piece, 28mm Aztec army, made up from The Assault Group castings. Now, for over 4 decades, I have fancied some South American club

Another crushing week of painting to earn the crust, with a 10PM finish of Friday. But, in one and a half days, and with the assistance of my talented and faithful wife, my 28mm Scots went from bare MDF to fully based:   I am waiting for the delivery of the steel pike and lances and then I hope next weekend, I can fit them along with the 62 flags which are already done. My gaming purchases amounted to a few Battletech items this week, but I have yet to look at them what with work and day to day things. Anyway, I fear that it is time for a long hot soak with an improving book before a celebartory tea followed by a nice bottle of dry Furmint and another of a cheeky Vouvray, both well chilled.   TTFN

A Brief Chance To Catch Breath...

Hi all, Well, there seem to be a lot of 'real time' threads online about Vapnartak being a bit shoddy, and some are from well known hobby veterans... It makes me very happy that I decided not to go. Instead I have spent the day sticking down hundreds of 28mm ECW.  I now have all of my Covenanters stuck down, glossed, matted and ready for the scenic bit.   All Perry metals, apart from the three frame guns and crew, the two large artillery pieces and two gunners.    I also managed to repair and double varnish the Space Marines I bought online, last weekend:   I also had a terrible attack of retro-game-love and decided that I should get back into Battletech. I confess that I went just a little wild and ordered 17 Lances/Stars of Mechs and a couple of rule sets, and no I feel no remorse or the need to apologise for such a splurge. On Friday, I had another retro-outburst when I saw 115 painted Silent Death miniatures along with a number of rulebooks for the paltry sum of £115:   My
