A Good Friday Miracle

 Well, yesterday, I painted for 10 straight hours, as it was a holiday, and I painted the most personal stuff I've done in decade. When you paint for a living, the idea of spending 'down time' paintings is abhorrent.

But, as I've been getting a real kick for the last 2 years working on several projects involving vehicles in assorted scales,  and, having a trip back in time to my early days and some 15mm sci-fi aming, I threw caution to the wind.

And behold, I finished the vehicles for my first force:

 













The models are all from GZG, and I just need to add the crew and some stowage. I like my sci-fi stuff to look lived in but not over weathered, so I've added a minimal dust/rust filter to the finished modes with a slight mud  layer around the skirts.

The orange skirted vehicle is the Med-Evac 'can', and is awaiting the delivery of red crosses, after the Easter break.

All in all, I am very pleased.

Next up are 24 (maybe more) 'Adder' class vehicles from Alternative Armies, and then 19 VTOLs that I ordered yesterday, again from GZG.

Carved in 1890 from wood and wax, this sculpture in the collection of Sheffield's Weston Park Museum depicts a 21 match bout between 12th century Samurai, Kawazu Saburo and Matano Goro. Matano was beaten and obviously was left humiliated. Overindulgence? Is it Possible? I Fear It May Be...

It's a strange morning for me. Firstly, as a long time fan of M.A.S.H, I am saddened to hear of the passing of Loretta Swit. If you have never heard her interviewed, she was witty, interesting and very gracious, speaking fondly and highly of her fellow cast members. I think that only Alan Alda & Jamie Farr remain now... Ah me, but I feel old. But, what has really hit me is a feeling I cannot shake that I may have reached a sort of miniature-amassing 'critical mass' situation, bordering on burn out. I collect large armies as you know, and I always have. Yesterday I was unpacking 1700+ 15mm Mike's Models Crusades figures. They are gorgeous little models, being much larger than the norm, along the lines of Tin Soldier.
