The Neverending Story So Far....

Well, I thought I should wander out to the games bunker and do a visual recording of the progress of the preslotta fantasy armies, as my painter is down to the last 800 of his batch and I have about 500 to do myself.

The unpainted stuff includes 350 Grenadier Barbarians including 3 war mammoths, 10 Ackland Orc Wyverns, 20 or so of the lovely little attacking golden eagle, 5 Ackland Elf War Eagles, 200 or so Chronicle Orcs, 500 FTS, FTZ and C Series Undead and a load of angels, demons and war machines... I really ought to try and get an accurate number of those.

Oh, I forgot to photograph the pink T-Rex and the Dwarf on Triceratops.

And then, a lifetime's collecting of fantasy armies is complete. I certainly don't need any more.

My historical collecting is also pretty much over now, and I am working through the sci-fi so, that I will hopefully have it all done in 18 months ahead of hitting 60.

I'm always available if an show organisers want a 15 x 5 Oldhammer game in attendance - just reach out. A 6 x 4 just won't cut it




























Next time, we'll return to more 80s memories, recollections and ruminations of a wasted life...

Carved in 1890 from wood and wax, this sculpture in the collection of Sheffield's Weston Park Museum depicts a 21 match bout between 12th century Samurai, Kawazu Saburo and Matano Goro. I am trying to weave it in with the stories in my 2012 book as well as covering stuff I was not mentally ready to relate back then. It got pretty dark in the basement in the late 80s for me. Memory Lane Part 17: It's 1981, Saturday, 9AM - I've Had My Weetibix (And a Bacon Butty)

 Well, with over 26,000 hits on this blog last month, I suppose I better say a big thank you, and get cracking on September... Saturdays were always fun, once I hit my 14th year as I was given a key to my parent's home and was allowed into town on my own, without question. Of course, normally I would be with Alan  and latterly Alan & Craig 'Stav' Stainrod - more on this individual at a future time. I would sometimes bump into my parents in the city centre as they did their shopping, but generally I was in a world of my own, exploring what was a seriously interesting underbelly of what was, back then a great city.   In the very early 80s, we still had proper youth tribes. Whilst there was not the gang violence we see today, it was 'exhilarating' just getting around town as I have mentioned in previous posts in this series.
