Men in Animal Costumes And Feathers Stuck Up Their Backsides

Well, Friday was the end of another monumental working week, and by 7PM, I was throwing in the towel, reaching for two large glasses of Tia Maria, and looking in the wine racks for a numbingly decent red to go with a simple bowl of capaletti with garlic, tomato and chilli flakes.

However, a few minutes after said towel was thrown, the chap from whom I bought them kindly delivered the 28mm Aztecs, having decided to drive a very long way to do so, staying overnight in Sheffield.

Here's how they look in decent light:

As you will no doubt infer, without additional indication from yours truly, I am more than happy with them.

I will be removing the stones from the bases though, and adding some bright mixed flowers instead. All in all these were a genuine bargain.

I've also purchased a new copy of the excellent Formula D, which is a great car racing boardgame as I am sure most of you will be aware. It's fast, colourful and is just the thing for up to 10 players.

In nongaming news, Roger put me onto the Mark Kelly (Marillion keyboard maestro) autobiography and Denim & Leather, a 'horse's mouth' recounting of the rise and eventual fall of the so-called New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, one of which I shall pour over shortly.

I spent Saturday evening after returning from a rather decent French meal, sorting through a pile of vintage RPGs from an old friend's collection, working out what I need to add to complete the games which are crying out for playing, such as Traveller 2300 and Twilight 2000. I also starte reading Time & Time Again, but the typeface gave me a headache, so I decided to grab some champagn and a cheeky Pinot Noir and watch 'We Love 1984' a wry 90 minute look at the music and pop culture of that year, hosted by Holly Johnson ( It's on YouTube ) before retiring to bed and a rather disturbed night's sleep.

Well, that's it from me. I'm getting all set for Hamerhead in Newark next Saturday. I was going to enter the painting competition, but I just can't be arsed... I fear I have spent too long bent under a white light with a brush in hand.

PS: And the least said about the news headlines this week the better, save to say that I think Vladimir Putin has finally lost the plot.

  1. Great mini's, I can see why you're pleased.
Sadly Putin has missed the "or what" category by a country mile
