Well That's A Bugger...

Well, after 2 years of avoiding the bullet, the one with both name of your correspondent and the Memsahib, struck home yesterday, when we both tested positive for Covid... This, despite being quadruply vaccinated and one bad assed motherfucker! (allegedly, if you listen to my enemies)

BUGGER!

Rumours that it was my gaming buddy, jealous at me having filled the slots of our chosen painter for the next 20 years, spiking me are grossly exaggerated. He's too nice for that, although, he seemed miffed today when I reported inb as till on this dirt ball, after promising him my 28mm Covenanters if I carked it...

I have just finished a twelve hour shift in my studio after a 5AM wake up this morning, but I confess that I did need a one hour sleep at midday as I was frankly, fucked.

However, ther was a little bit of gaming joy at 6AM when I purchased 743 original 15mm Traveller figures at 25 cents each. Even with 90 dollars of shipping (I fear Roger just collapsed upon reading that) it was a great price.

I have no plans for them in terms of what I'll use them for, but they take me back to being a young teenager again, and  - sit down before reading further - I enjoy painting these Perry sculpted gems. They are just so bloody perfect as the 80s sci-fi aesthetic.

Not for me the 40K silliness. Yes, I know I have dabbled but I like my sci-fi 'hard'.

Speaking of hard, as I commented to a certain acquaintance yesterday, the bug has ravaged my lips, leaving them cracked an calloused. I believe I referred to them as being 'as chapped as a French whore's flaps'. I can highly endorse the lip balm made by London perfumier Penhaligon as a cure. It's very expensive, but your lips are worth it.

After all, you never know when you may need to pucker up for that big discount on an order do you?

 Of late I have been having long and vivid dreams wherein, I am often walking or travelling with people I have known, some living, some passed, talking over things we had done or said. I confess that it's been eerie but also very liberating. These coversations have been so real that I have awoken in the morning (more usually, half way through the night) and been confused at my surroundings.  Last night I was speaking with Dave Hoyles  - very much alive and kicking - of Q.T Models/Museum Miniatures. A Radioactive Wasteland? We Need Another Hero...

Don't    I first attended the Sheffield 'Triples' show in I think 1982, and what a show it was. It could fill the Royal Victoria Hotel, a massive Victorian railway hotel, and was rammed to the rafters for two days with traders and attendees. It had a great painting competition (where, in 1984 I won the first of over 20 competitions, when such things were important to me personally) and a bring an buy which was always packed with good quality stuff for all tastes. There was a buzz that I only ever saw matched at Salute or Northern Militaire and a vibrant 'after show' culture of pub and curry crawls, quizzes and debauchery which, set many a teenage lad on the right track in life. Oh My, This Is A Long One...

 The Stalingrad re-enactment continues here at Fackham Hall, in the shadow of the Dark Tower. Yesterday was particularly hellish with the first visitation of that agent of disorder and damnation, commonly known as The Plasterer. At 3PM, I found myself almost silent in my distress (a rare thing indeed, as many will atest) with what is left of the bedroom, coated with a layer of plaster because , you know, plasterers just can't work using dust sheets. Hopefully, if the gods deign to smile upon us, we will have this demon exorcised by close of play on Monday, whereby the other troublesome spirit, The Builder, will return to rip or hammer something else. If we are lucky we'll have everything sorted by the May Bank Holiday weekend.
