So, It Appears The Rumours Were (Sort Of) True...

You may recall, that I mentioned a rumour of a return of Triples?

Well, I was doing the rounds on the social media circuit and came across this post by Leon Pengilley of Pendraken Miniatures.

Now, despite being a Sheffield base business with a painting and miniatures arm, I've not been invited, so I can't comment on the numbers Leon gives, but it does seem like there's a bit of friction there, in the trade.

It's a shame, but it does have to be said that the Triple organisers did screw the pooch a few years ago, and perhaps connecting Triples to this new show, may have not been a good idea, particularly when the contacts listed on the site, are the same people who were scathing about the intelligence of traders who paid for stands, and who took 6 months and more to respond to legitimate trade enquiries.

Allowing another show (and not a very good one) to get a foot in the door was the nail in the coffin for a major show in Sheffield, and I think perhaps there's a lot of water passed under the bridge in terms of what is expected and accepted at a show - some good, some bad - which the organisers may just disregard.

In actual fact, it has nothing to do with Triples or SWS, but as Leon states it is organised by some of those responsible for Triples, as a private venture.

Anyway, you can find out more here

For the sake of completeness, here's the comments by Mr Pengilley on social media.

"Have we all had an invite to the new Sheffield show and what are folks' thoughts?
It's some of the same organisers as Triples but with a couple of new people as well. They're looking to sell 100 trader tables (40-50 traders I'd expect) and hoping to get 1000 through the door.
Personally I'm wary if it's the same Triples crowd trying to run a show again as the organisation was awful previously. And the main feedback given to Triples was to move back to the May slot, yet this new one is being launched in March. So we'll have Hammerhead and WMMS on the weekends beforehand and then Salute in April straight after."
